Baking soda is one of the most commonly used ingredients at home and for sure you have it somewhere in your kitchen as it’s often added to cakes. Baking soda, however, may also have a wonderful effect on your skin.
What is Baking Soda
Baking soda is actually sodium bicarbonate. It’s a natural substance known as nahcolite, which comes from mineral springs. We often limit using baking soda just to cooking, but the alkaline nature of sodium bicarbonate also makes it an amazing beauty product.
It’s a great ingredient of various face masks due to its antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, anti-fungal, and anti-septic properties. It can also balance your skin’s pH level. Include baking soda in your beauty routine and you will quickly see that it has a positive effect on your skin.
Baking Soda Face Masks
Depending on your skin type or a skin problem you deal with, mix baking soda with different ingredients for the best results.
1. Face Scrub for Sensitive Skin
Sensitive skin needs extra care as it can be easily irritated and damaged. However, this skin type also needs gentle cleansing. Instead of chemical or medical products you can try natural face scrub with baking soda, honey, and pumpkin.
In this wonderful scrub baking soda will fantastically exfoliate your skin, honey will moisturize and soothe it while a pumpkin will provide your skin with vitamin C, which is essential for healthy skin.
To prepare the scrub you need to gather one cup of baking soda, one cup of canned pumpkin, and ¼ cup of raw honey. All you have to do is mix all the ingredients together in a glass jar and put it in your fridge for a few hours.
To use it take a small amount of the mixture and gently rub your face with it for about a minute. Then leave it for around fifteen minutes. Before you wash it off, splash some water over your face and once again rub it for a while. Then rinse it off with warm water.
After you dry your skin, apply your regular cream. If you follow the procedure once a week, you will see that your skin is soft and looks healthy.
2. Antiaging Scrub
Women try different things to stop the time by using various antiaging remedies. Before you turn to expensive creams which promise miracles, go for cheap and natural solutions. The antiaging scrub with baking soda, essential oils, and honey will make your skin firm, soft, and free of wrinkles for longer.
To prepare the scrub you need to gather ½ tablespoon of manuka honey, one drop each of geranium oil, frankincense oil, and lavender oil. You will also need a clean wash cloth and one glass of warm water.
First you need to mix manuka honey with baking soda so that they form a thick paste. Add all the essential oils to the paste and mix everything once again. Soak the wash cloth in warm water and apply it on your face for a few seconds. This simple process will open up your skin pores and prepare it for the scrub application.
Now you can apply the scrub on your face and gently massage your skin with it for about five minutes. After that time wash it off with warm water and once you dry your face, use your moisturizing cream.
Follow this procedure once a week and you should quickly see that your skin is firm, soft, and maintains a youthful look.
3. Brightening Facial Scrub
Every skin type needs to be regularly exfoliated as it will make your skin look bright and no imperfections will appear on your face. You can prepare wonderful and effective natural scrub with the use of baking soda, tea tree oil, coconut oil, and freshly squeezed lemon juice.
Baking soda will remove the dead skin cells and all the other impurities from your face while other ingredients will deeply nourish and moisturize your skin. As a result your face will get a brighter tone, will be soft and smooth.
In order to prepare this amazing scrub you need to gather one tablespoon of freshly squeezed lemon juice, ½ tablespoon of baking soda, a few drops of coconut and tea tree oil.
Start with mixing the baking soda with the lemon juice. Then add there coconut and tea tree oil and mix everything thoroughly so that you will get a smooth paste. Apply the mixture on your face, omitting the eyes and mouth area. Leave it for about thirty seconds to let it dry.
Now, you can splash some water all over your face and gently massage your skin with the scrub. Do it for about a minute and then wash it off with warm water. You can apply a moisturizing cream afterwards and if it’s summer, use a sunscreen too. For beautiful and bright skin, follow this procedure just once or twice a week.
4. Moisturizing Face Wash
Cleaning your face with a proper cleansing product should be your everyday routine if you want to have beautiful skin, free of any imperfections. Of course, you can find various cleansers at your drug store, but they often contain some chemical substances, which may irritate your skin, even if the label says it’s for a sensitive skin type.
