2006 Goals and Objectives
Summit Goal
  • Recommend a ten-year action agenda on video games and children’s health based on scientific research and the insights and conclusions from the summit.
Focus of Meeting
  • How to improve the rating system accuracy and efficacy, based on scientific evidence.
  • How to best educate people about the impact of video games, need to select appropriate games, and the value of caregiver involve ment in media use by youth.
  • How legislative and other public policy initiatives can help or hinder the above goals.
Meeting Objectives
  • Inform the participants about future technology developments anticipated over the coming decade.
  • Review the current and emerging trends related to video game rating systems, education policy and government regulation.
  • Elevate the level of debate about video games to include critical dialogue about video game effects, ratings accuracy and effectiveness, education efforts and research.
