Switch™ Program For Community Awareness
Switch BillboardCommunities across the country are not only grappling with the health and economic effects of the high rates of overweight and obesity among adults, but even more serious are the sky-rocketing rates of overweight and obesity among children. The implications for a community's health care needs, business productivity, and wellness of its citizens are critical. That's why the groundbreaking design of Switch seeks to involve the entire community in not only learning about the effects of overweight and obesity, but also how to take three steps to a healthier lifestyle.

About Switch
Switch BillboardDesigned by the National Institute on Media and the Family to be a unique family-centered solution for the overweight and obesity crisis - Switch includes a research-based community awareness program. Funded by Cargill, the Healthy and Active America Foundation, Fairview Health Services, and Medica, Switch was developed and trialed in communities encompassing community settings. Groundbreaking in its content, Switch promotes increased physical activity, sound nutritional choices, and moderated screen time which will increase the physical fitness and overall health of children and their families. Switch will work in your community by:

  1. Quickly building awareness.
  2. Targeting three critical behaviors in an engaging way.
  3. Involving families and community stakeholders.
Community benefits from Switch
A Switch Community License lets a community use Switch communication materials on a community-wide basis. Switch becomes the "umbrella" under which a community links together its health, fitness, and wellness initiatives with a common set of goals, enabling a community to send a clear message about the steps to take to meet these goals:
Switch what you Do.™  Switch what you Do.™
Switch what you View.™  Switch what you View.™
Switch what you Chew.™ Switch what you Chew.™
