Family, Friend, Neighbor, Caregivers Project
Reaching Family, Friend and Neighbor Caregivers

Grandmothers, grandfathers, aunts, uncles, sisters, brothers, friends and neighbors - many parents rely on them to help raise their children. Yet the majority of these caregivers do not identify as “childcare providers.” Family, Friend and Neighbor Caregivers are adults who care for children from 40+ hours a week to just a few hours a month. They play a critical role in children’s health and development.

More than 50% of children in MN are cared for in the Family, Friend and Neighbor (FFN) care setting.
through-u through-u - Families Become MediaWise
is a ground-breaking project of the National Institute on Media and the Family designed to recruit, train and support FFN caregivers in North Minneapolis. The project aims to help FFN caregivers understand their role in creating a healthy media environment for children with the goal of helping children be school ready.

through-u through-u - Families Become MediaWise reminds Family, Friends and Neighbors that they play a powerful role in the lives of children and that the media choices they make affect children for a lifetime.
We measure our success
